About the Fund
The Detroit Firemen's Fund Association was founded in 1866 for the purpose of providing aid to the widows of fallen fire fighters.
As members of the Fund, we are there to provide assistance and support to families during their time of need. It is during these difficult times, that we are there to help.
Our membership is comprised of both active and retired fire fighters, and is supported by membership dues, fund raisers, and other monetary donations by concerned patrons in our community.
We also volunteer our time with community activities. Our special Clown Team and Thrill Team provide entertainment for the community and have put a smile on children's faces when they are ill or recovering from serious injuries or burns.
Fire Fighters are a special breed, they don't preach the life of brotherhood they live it.
Sincerely,
The Board of Trustees

As the Detroit Fire Department Historian, I am still trying to complete a number of projects. The most important one is the listing of every firefigthter who ever worked for Detroit. A great source of information is the old "Force Service Books".
I am missing these books: May 1908-December 1910, May 1918-October 1920. April 1924 - February 1927, October 1939-November 1940. If you have one of these books and don't want to donate it, may I at least copy it?
I also need a copy of "The Fire Service in Detroit" published by the Firemen's Fund in 1889.
These Field Day Yearbooks are needed: 1922-28, 1933, 1942.
Annual reports needed are: 1915/1916, 1918/1919, 1937-1944 and 1986.
I need pictures of these firehouses: E14 on Scotten near Michigan (Feb 1888-Oct 1929), E7 on Concord north of Jefferson (Sept 1893-Apr 1950) and L13 at Fort & Lewerenz (Jan 1909-Nov 1932).
DONATIONS: Many thanks to Bob Teipel for allowing me to copy his 1929 4th Battalion Composite. This will give us many more pictures to identify firefighters. If anyone has any composites I could copy, please call.
Many thanks to Mark Urban for bringing Floyd Wilkins to the office, Floyd is the son and grandson of Detroit firefighters. He donated a retirement plaque, a S2 helmet and shield, a firemen's belt, firemen's clothing, 1894 "Our Firemen" book and pictures.
Thanks to Carol Lincoln for donating her husband's (Gary) dress clothing.
Retiree Jim Seibert would like to remember the guys at E-53, L-25, TMS-7 that were there when he started. So if anyone has a roster from 7-1-57 through 1958, please send me a copy and I'll forward it to Jim. The books at E-53 were thrown out.
Thanks to Dennis Keitz for his donation of his father's (John C-13) drawings, pictures, books and a box of badges.
Thanks to all and remember, we take anything.
